Team committed to continue racing

Antonio Marron, director of the Herdez Competition officially announced today that the Herdez/Viva Mexico! project for the 2000 FedEx Championship Series season with its driver Michel Jourdain Jr. continues very solid with its association with Bettenhausen Motorsports, despite Team owner Tony Bettenhausen's fatal accident.

Antonio Marron, Director of the Herdez Competition: "We had a meeting with Merle Bettenhausen, who is Tony's brother and we already agreed to continue with the Herdez/Bettenhausen's project, like we planned it since we started our association with Bettenhausen Motorsports in late '99. Next week we will start our testing program with sessions at Sebring, Firebird and Homestead."

"This Friday Michel (Jourdain Jr.) and I attended to the Memorial services of Tony and Shirley Bettenhausen and their friends and partners Russ Roberts and Larry Rangel in the St. Lukas United Methodist Church and this Saturday we will attend to the burial at the Crown Hill Cemetery, both in Indianapolis," he said.

"Engineer Tom Brown told me that he already spoke with our suppliers (Mercedes-Benz, Lola, Firestone, etc.), who reiterated their support to us. We want to thank them, the Media and friends for their relief," he said.
