Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports tests at Sebring

Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports driver Michel Jourdain Jr. tested for the first time with his new Mercedes-Benz/Lola/Firestone car on the permanent circuit of Sebring in Florida, in preparation for the 2000 FedEx Championship Series.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16 Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "This was our first testing in the year on a permanent circuit and I think to work again after what happened with Tony (Bettenhausen) was good for everybody. We could not complete too many laps, just 25, because an oil problem. The team is going to check the oil tank and the connections and after that, they will to try to fix the problem in order to have the car ready for our Tuesday-testing session."

Tom Brown, Managing Director/Chief Engineer, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "Unfortunately, we had some problems. We will have a meeting and we'll check the car. It was good for the team to get back to the track. It was very hard to run without Tony, but we try hard to make him proud."

The team will continue the scheduled three-day testing session by Wednesday and will test in March in Phoenix, Arizona (at Firebird).
