©2000 SpeedCenter Publishing Team Chairman Jerry Forsythe today announced that Tony Brunetti has been appointed vice president and general manager of Forsythe Championship Racing which will field Bryan Herta in the #77 Panasonic Honda/Swift for the 2000 CART FedEx Championship Series. Brunetti will oversee the day-to-day racing operations following the resignation of the team's president, Steve Horne, this week. Brunetti, 40, has been involved in Forsythe's racing operations since 1993, and was team manager of Player's/Forsythe Racing from 1995 through 1998. He most recently served as vice president of Forsythe Racing -- the parent company for both the Forsythe Championship Racing and Player's/Forsythe Racing teams. Originally from Great Bend, Kansas, Brunetti began his motorsports career in 1980 as a mechanic with Bignotti/Cotter. Over the course of the following 12 years, Brunetti worked his way up the racing ladder with positions at Vince Granatelli Racing, Kraco and Galles/Kraco Racing prior to joining the Forsythe organization. "I have a lot of respect for Steve Horne and wish him all the best," said Brunetti. "He is leaving behind a very talented team, and these are certainly big shoes to fill. Losing someone like Steve is hard on a team, and we need to pull together and move forward. Our job, in conjunction with Swift, is to get to a competitive level." "Once again Jerry Forsythe has given me a great opportunity, and I appreciate his confidence in me and his belief in this group of people. I'm looking forward to working with Bryan, and with [team manager] Steve Dickson and [chief mechanic] Steve Ragan. I've known and raced against these guys for many years.
