Shell also re-signs as primary sponsor

Chicago (July 28, 2000) - Team Rahal owner Bobby Rahal announced today that the team has reached an agreement on a contract extension with Shell sponsored driver Kenny Brack through the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series. Brack, in his first year with Team Rahal in the CART FedEx Championship Series, has posted seven top-ten results, including four top-fives and a pair of podium appearances in his first eleven races. Brack currently is seventh in championship points and is the leader in the battle for the Jim Trueman Rookie of the Year Award.

"My association with Team Rahal and Shell has been everything I thought it would be when I joined the team last fall," said Brack, the 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner and the 1998 Indy Racing League Champion. "Being involved with a world class brand like Shell and one of the top teams in CART in Team Rahal has given me the opportunity to be competitive right away in this series. The team and I are still going through an adjustment period but I feel that we have been a factor in a number of races and I feel we will break through to a win very soon. This extension gives us the opportunity to continue building on what we have already established."

"When we hired Kenny we knew we were getting a championship-caliber driver who is the consummate professional away from the track," said team owner Bobby Rahal. "Kenny and the Shell team are a factor in the championship already this season and as the chemistry between the team and him continues to develop he will be even stronger on the track."

"We are excited to continue building the relationship we have Kenny and Team Rahal," said Maury Billig, Motorsports Manager for Equiva Services. " Kenny has been an outstanding representative of the Shell brand on and off the track and we are looking forward to a successful future between us."

The Brack announcement was made in conjunction with an announcement by Shell that it has extended its sponsorship of Team Rahal's Champ Car program. Shell began its involvement with Team Rahal as an associate sponsor in 1993 and has been a primary sponsor since 1996.

Team Rahal is a franchise member of Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART). Headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio, the team co-owned by three-time CART Champion Bobby Rahal and CBS LATE SHOW host David Letterman, currently fields a pair of Championship Cars for Max Papis and Kenny Brack in the CART FedEx Championship Series. The 75-member team enjoys primary sponsorship from Shell and Miller Brewing Company.
