Zakspeed Motorsport and Forsythe Racing (USA) start as "Team Zakspeed Forsythe Racing" in the American "CART FedEx Championship" (Champ Car), beginning with the season 2001 as a partnership with equal rights.

Residence of the Team Zakspeed Forsythe Racing is Ohio, USA. The team will start with cars, driven by Bryan Herta and one German top pilot. This will be the first time for a German driver in a German team to participate in one of the most spectacular racing series in the world.

Zakspeed Motorsport, the most successful German Racing team for the last 30 years in Europe know for numerous titles in the national and international Touringcar-Sport and the legendary engagement in the Formula One from 1985 to 1990. The Zakspeed team has been successful in the American Motorsport in the 80's, too. The owner Peter Zakowski is glad of the comeback to the USA. "The participation in the CART Series means for Zakspeed not only to come back to the USA. But to take part in the most sportive economically interesting racing series in the world through the globalisation of the CART Series in Mexico, Japan, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain and especially Germany (Eurospeedway Lausitz, September 15th, 2001). This is motorsport on the highest international level! And for Forsythe Racing, we have got the best partner to be found."

Forsythe Racing has been a steady part of the US American motorsport for the last 20 years. Next to the Indy Lights and the Atlantic Series, the Forsythe Racing Player's Team made a big impression in CART starting with Jacques Villeneuve as a pilot. In addition, Gerald Forsythe, founder and owner of Forsythe Racing, serves on the Board of Directors of Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc. (CART) as well as in the new British American Racing (BAR) Formula One Team and has become one of the most influential entrepreneurs in open-wheel racing today.

As the first German/European Team ever, "Team Zakspeed Forsythe Racing" will start the season 2001 on March 11, 2001 in Monterrey, Mexico.
