"We will be stronger together than apart"

Plainfield, Illinois……..Dale Coyne Racing has formed an alliance with Team PRG owners Andreas Leberle and Christian Danner to enter two Ford Cosworth-powered Lolas in the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series.

"If you look at what PRG has to bring to the table and combine it with what our team has in place, it makes sense," said Dale Coyne. "Team PRG has worked diligently over the off-season to procure new sponsors, while Dale Coyne Racing has the infrastructure and personnel to run a competitive two-car effort, as demonstrated by our strong end of season showing in 2000. Given the extreme competitiveness of Champ Car racing these days, we will be stronger together than apart. We all felt that this is the best possible scenario to run a competitive program in 2001."

The two cars will be run under the Dale Coyne Racing entries at its Plainfield, Illinois shop. Returning PRG driver Luiz Garcia Jr., from Brasilia, Brazil, will drive the #21 car with sponsorship from Embratel 21, a division of MCI WorldCom, Brazil's leading long distance provider, and fresh support from Infineon semiconductors and Dark Dog energy drink.

Michael Krumm, from Reutlinger, Germany will drive the #19 car in the opening race at Monterrey, Mexico, with support from Dark Dog.

"We are still finalizing the remaining sponsorships for Michael and hope to have further announcements in the next 30 days," reported PRG owner Andreas Leberle. "Michael also has commitments to run the GT and Formula Nippon Championships in Japan, so we are also working through some of the date conflicts."

Luiz Garcia Jr. returns for his third year in Champ Car. He ran selected races for Dale Coyne Racing and Hogan Racing in 1999, and last year he ran a full season for Arciero/PRG. He scored points in five races with a best finish of 11th at Michigan. "This is my third year and I feel that the package we are putting together here will enable me to get to the next level," commented the personable Garcia.

CART rookie Michael Krumm comes with an impressive resume including finishing second last year to ex-Formula 1 driver Tora Takagi in the Japanese Formula Nippon series.

The Dale Coyne Racing entries for the first race in Monterrey, Mexico will be as follows:

#19 Michael Krumm; Reutlingen, Germany; "The Dark Dog Car"; Orange/White; Ford Cosworth/Lola/Firestone; Chief Mechanic: Doug Myers; Engineer: David Morgan

#21 Luiz Garcia, Jr.; Brasilia, Brazil; "The Embratel 21 Special"; White; Ford Cosworth/Lola/Firestone; Chief Mechanic: Garnet Beeput; Engineer: Stefan Dwornik
