Kenny Brack will join the four-time series champions

Target Chip Ganassi Racing announced today that CART FedEx Series points leader Kenny Brack will join the four-time series champions for the 2002 season. Brack, who currently races for Team Rahal, is also scheduled to compete for Team Target in the 2002 Indianapolis 500.

“Team Target is one of the most highly respected teams in all of motorsports, and they’ve proven they’re capable of winning championships,” said Brack, the 2000 FedEx Series rookie of the year. “My goal is the same as Target Chip Ganassi Racing’s: win the CART championship and the Indy 500. I’m thrilled to join this team next year and look forward to working with them to accomplish our goals.”

Ganassi, who currently fields cars for rookie Bruno Junqueira and recent Team Target addition Memo Gidley, is excited to sign the 35-year-old Sweden native.

“Kenny has quickly become one of the dominant drivers in the CART series, and his skills, goals and attitude are perfect fits for Team Target,” said Ganassi, whose drivers won 34 of the 92 races from 1996 through 2000. “The addition of Kenny in 2002 will help our team stay on track for a fifth championship. We plan to wait until the end of the season to make a decision on our second driver. The team is now focusing on the rest of the 2001 season and getting to winner’s circle with Bruno and Memo.”
