Lawson Uninjured In Phoenix Crash


IndyCar rookie driver Eddie Lawson was uninjured after crashing during testing Tuesday afternoon (02/20/96) at Phoenix International Raceway. At 2:41 p.m., Lawson, who drives the Delco Electronics High Tech Team Galles Lola Mercedes Benz, hit the outside wall as he was exiting Turn 4 and continued across the track. He then hit the inside pit wall and again smacked the outside wall before coming to rest near the start/finish line. Lawson was transported to the Phoenix Good Samaritan Hospital for precautionary measures. No injuries were reported and he was released about an hour later.
