U.S. 500 Preview Shows in
Detroit and New York


Racing fans in New York and Detroit will get a special sneak preview of the Inaugural U.S. 500, to be run at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, May 26, 1996.

The preview will air in New York on Madison Square Garden (MSG) on Monday, May 20, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. In Detroit the special will be carried by PASS Sports on Saturday, May 18, 1996 at 9:00 p.m. with a repeat airing on Thursday, May 23, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. Both MSG and PASS Sports are regional cable sports network and are Prime Sports Network affiliates.

"We are going to stage an event for our fans that will feature the biggest stars of our sport running on the fastest track on the Indy Car circuit," stated IndyCar President and CEO Andrew Craig. "The U.S. 500 will feature America's best taking on the world."

Located just 75 miles east of Detroit, the two mile oval in Brooklyn, Michigan is the sixth stop on the PPG Indy Car World Series championship.

Produced by Tudor Sports and hosted by Rick DeBruhl, the half-hour special will include driver interviews, weekend schedules, and other special features of interest to both seasoned and novice fans.

The show will also examine the Firestone Indy Lights race that will be run that same weekend. The "U.S. 500 Preview" is the fourth in a series of IndyCar Preview TV specials airing in local markets preceding each domestic IndyCar race in 1996.
