INDIANAPOLIS (May 18, 1996) - Dan Drinan suffered a concussion, broken left hip and foot, and a bruised lung today when his car crashed very hard against the first-turn wall in practice this morning.

Drinan, a former mechanic for Scott Brayton and an Indy 500 rookie, is at Methodist Hospital's Trauma Center and was reported awake, alert and stable. The hip will require surgery within the next few days, a Speedway medical official said."
