INDIANAPOLIS -- Davy Jones, together with the (CART) Galles pit crew, won Thursday's pit stop competition at the Brickyard.

They picked up a check for $35,000 after beating Roberto Guerrero's team in the finals. The winnng pit stop took only 14.176 seconds. The team was jubilant and pumped-up after this win.

Jones will be starting from the middle of the front row on Sunday.

This good starting position, combined with potentially fast pit stops, a strong 1996 Mercedes-Benz engine, and Davy's relatively high experience at Indianapolis sums up to a good chance for the CART-based Galles team to pick up another Indy 500 victory.
