U.S. 500 Sets ESPN Indy Car Record!


The U.S. 500 from Brooklyn, Mich., Sunday, May 26 set a viewership record for an ESPN Indy Car telecast – 1,904,000 homes. That figure is based on a 2.8 rating from the A.C. Nielsen Co. and ESPN's subscriber count of 68 million households.

The strong U.S. 500 number followed reports that the overnight returns for ABC's Inianapolis 500 telecast have dropped 21 percent, to a 6.8 rating. Television numbers for Indy fell in every major market with significant drops in Cleveland, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
