Two Top Formula One Engineers
Headed For Detroit

The lead engineers for the two top Formula One drivers will be touring the garage and pit areas at the Detroit Grand Prix, as guest of Champion Spark Plug and Walker Racing.

Dennis Chevrier and Eric Faron, Renault engineers for Damon Hill and Jacques Vileneuve, respectively, also will be meeting with engineers from Champion in their Toledo, Ohio, offices the Monday following the race.

"They're in the country prior to the Formula One race in Montreal, and wanted to see the engineers for the IndyCar teams at work," said Michael Smith, Motorsports Manager for Champion.

Hill and Villeneuve are currently first and second in Formula One points. Of the first five races, Hill won in Australia, Brazil, Argentina and San Marino. Villeneuve, who won the Indy Car championship in 1995, place first in Europe and second in Australia and Argentina behind Hill.
