SpeedCenter Silly Season Report

SpeedCenter was told that Alessandro "Alex" Zanardi will be going back to Formula 1 for the 1997 season with the Jordan team.

Also overheard was that Mauricio Gugelmin will be moving from his solid ride at PacWest to take Zanardi's place at Target-Ganassi.

This information is not confirmed at this time, but SpeedCenter is attempting to confirm these rumors and will post that information as soon as possible. Please be advised that the Silly Season Chart will not reflect the above rumors until confirmed.

Note from the Editor: The move by Zanardi makes sense, but Gugelmin moving from a hot ride at PacWest? One has to question that move with the progress that has been made by the team and the Mercedes powerplant. Sure, the Honda engine is very strong, but as we all know, dominating a series — especially IndyCar — does not last very long.
