Dan Gurney Places Eagle Project On Hold

Dan Gurney has announced that his drivers will be starting the 1997 driving the Reynard chassis instead of AAR's infamous Eagles.

This is not surprising considering how uncompetitive the Eagles were in 1996, rarely showing in the points and usually being the proverbial caboose of the IndyCar train at most races.

AAR and Arceiro-Wells Racing both used the new Toyota powerplant, but AWR consistently finished higher at every race they finished using the Reynard chassis.

"We don't know when we'll race the Eagle," Dan Gurney said.
