Fangio Uninjured After Accident

Juan Manuel Fangio II hit the Turn Three wall in testing Monday at the Metro-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex oval. Fangio, who unofficially turned in the third-fastest time of the eight drivers testing on Sunday, walked away from the crash, but was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. His 1996 All American Racers (AAR) Reynard-Toyota suffered extensive damage to the rear and right side of the car. Fangio’s car appeared to get loose with the back-end of the car striking the wall.

Other drivers testing at Homestead included Fangio’s AAR teammate PJ Jones, Jimmy Vasser, Scott Pruett, Raul Boesel, Al Unser Jr., Parker Johnstone and Paul Tracy. Their times ran between the low 28-second range to mid-30 second laps on the 1.5-mile oval.
