Team Target Fan Phone To Cover CART Spring Training

The Team Target Fan Phone, a toll-free "800" number, will provide daily reports from the second annual CART Spring Training, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, at Florida's Metro-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex.

The free telephone number, good in the U.S. and Canada, is 1-800-297-9590.

The service will allow fans, media and sponsors to hear testing speeds and other news all three days as teams prepare for the PPG CART World Series. Most CART teams, including defending PPG Cup champion Target/Chip Ganassi Racing and drivers Jimmy Vasser and Alex Zanardi, are expected to participate.

Vasser was the fastest driver at last year's inaugural Spring Training and went on to capture his first CART victory at Homestead. That launched Vasser to a championship season that included four wins, while teammate Zanardi finished as Rookie of the Year with three wins and third in points in the Target Reynard-Honda.

The Team Target Fan Phone debuted in 1996 and returns with complete practice, qualifying and race results and other news soon after the checkered flag waves each day at every track. In the days between events, there are reports previewing the next race, with updated news, PPG Cup point standings, TV schedules, and other developments.

The Team Target Fan Phone is presented as a service to the motorsports community by Target stores, now in its eighth season as primary sponsor of Target/Chip Ganassi Racing.
