"Gee, I hear these young guys complaining about not having any downforce with the new cars here at Homestead. This reminds me of the cars in 1984. You really have to drive them now. I think the race here is going to be awesome. Like Milwaukee used to be. Two and three abreast and on and off the throttle. With the speedway wings and the lower downforce, driving the car is at a premium. I love it. Not many of these guys have driven cars like this lately."

"First of all I think the colors are great on the car. I think everybody can see it's quite distinctive. We had a few teething troubles, but we're starting to get in the groove. We had a few problems with the revised downforce package. A lot of people have actually tested here before, so we're a bit behind in that respect, but overall not a bad day. We're making some progress, but it's going to take some time to get the balance right."

"I'm pretty happy that I was able to do a reasonable time despite having a lot of problems with the car, so we are in good shape as long as we get things running properly. There's a lot more to come. We had many small problems in terms of the engine not running clean enough and cruise control (pit lane speed limiter) not working - you name it, everything went wrong. It took quite some time just to get the thing to run properly"

"It's only testing and we still have a lot of practice to do and the race is 250 miles long. Running today was great because it wasn't windy. We tested here last week. The track is smooth. The new car is fairly fast and it's good. The car is still touchy and we have to work on that - it's still new. You can't be too aggressive out there. We need to do some balance changes. Small things. It's still going to take a good set up to do well in the race."
