Player's/Forsythe Racing Switches Back to Reynard
Inside sources have told SpeedCenter that Player's/Forsythe Racing will indeedswitch from Lola to Reynard chassis. Patrick Racing also made the switch justbefore Spring Training after two months of testing with the Lola.

Player's/Forsythe used the Reynard chassis in 1996, then announced a switch toLola for the 1997 season. But, after absolutely dismal results at Spring Training, they will be switching back to Reynard for 1997. With the team's very late decision, they will run a Reynard 96I in the opening round of the 1997 PPG CART World Seriesat Homestead.

All Greg Moore could manage over the Spring Training weekend was 23rd fastest.

The fastest Lola all weekend was Richie Hearn's Ford-powered machine, who wasfifth, and then you have to go all the way down to 21st fastest to find anotherLola driven by Tasman driver, Andre Ribiero, followed by teammate Adrian Fernandezand then Moore.

So, where does that leave Lola? A mere seven cars in 1997.

Penske Drivers Happy With New Chassis
Paul Tracy was fast as Spring Training — Al Unser Jr. was 'average', but that'snot unusual for Unser.

Both drivers are very happy with the new 1997 PC-26 chassis and are looking forward to 1997after Penske Racing's first winless year since 1976.

"Last year's car was a very finicky car — I don't know if it was a Siamesecat or what," Unser said. "This year's car, it's got a bit more grip. It was a pleasureto drive."

Paul Tracy is hoping for a good start in the quest for the 1997 CART PPG Championshipthat has eluded him for various reasons.

"After all the problems last year, I'm pretty much ready to break out," Tracysaid. "I seem to struggle in the first few races. Hopefully this year, I canstart strong and get some points. And we can win a championship."
