Vasser Up For ESPY Honor

Reigning PPG Cup champion Jimmy Vasser is a finalist for the ESPY Award Performer of the Year in auto racing. The ESPY ceremony is February 10 at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and will be televised live on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. (ET). NASCAR champion Terry Labonte and Formula One titlist Damon Hill are other finalists.

The ESPYS, organized by ESPN, annually recognize outstanding achievement in sports. The star-studded event is fund raiser for the V Foundation which was established by the late national champion college basketball coach Jim Valvano.

Al Unser Jr. won the auto racing Performer of the Year award in 1995 for his championship-winning 1994 PPG Cup season.
