To Step In For Ailing Chief StewardSwan
CART Online (April 9) -- Former CART Chief Steward Wally Dallenbach returns as Chief Steward for thisweekend's Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, filling in for Dennis Swan, who is undergoing medicalobservation after experiencing chest pains Sunday night in Australia.
Dallenbach served as CART's Chief Steward from 1980 until stepping aside at the end of the 1996season. Since his retirement, he has served as Special Assistant to CART President and ChiefExecutive Officer Andrew Craig. Swan was admitted to Gold Coast Hospital in Queensland forobservation and testing, and was released late in the week. He has returned to his home in Michiganand is scheduled for further observation.
