Rio 400 Gets Title Sponsor
Souza Cruz, marketing arm of the Hollywood cigarette brand, will sponsorthe Brazilian stop of the PPG CART World Series, May 8-11 on the EmersonFittipaldi Speedway at Nelson Piquet International Raceway n Rio deJanero. The contract was inked Saturday by Jorge Cintra of Intag,promoter for the event.
Effective immediately, the race will become knowas the Hollywood Rio 400. Souza Cruz invests approximately $10 millionannually in auto racing. Hollywood, of Brazil's top-selling cigarettebrands, sponsors Mauricio Gugelmin's #17 Hollywood PacWest Mercedes inthe PPG CART World Series. The event following the Hollywood Rio 400 -the May 24 Motorola 300 at Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis- is sponsored by Motorola, primary sponsor of the #18 Motorola PacWestMercedes Benz driven by Mark Blundel.
