Alex Zanardi's streak of eleven consecutive front-row starts came to an end today

Alex Zanardi's streak of eleven consecutive front-row starts came to an end today. Paul Tracy qualified for the pole position for the second straight year for tomorrow's Bosch Spark Plug Grand Prix, and the outside of row one will be occupied by last year's Nazareth winner, Michael Andretti.

Third in the line-up will be rookie Patrick Carpentier.

Zanardi's front row dominance began at the Budweiser/GI Joe's 200 held at Portland International Raceway on June 23, and continued on to Cleveland, Toronto, Michigan, Mid-Ohio, Road America, Vancouver, and Laguna Seca in '96. He then continued for the first three races of '97 at Homestead, Surfer's Paradise, Australia, and lastly at the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix.

A full report from today's qualifying round will be posted as soon as official results are available from CART. The April 27 event will be televised live on ABC beginning at 2:00PM Eastern Time.
