Jones pleased after shake-down in Milwaukee

Despite a rain-shortened test day at the Milwaukee Mile, PJ Jones and All American Racers were encouraged Wednesday with their first shake-down run of a 1997 Reynard fitted with the new Toyota RV8B.

The session marked the first time the AAR squad has run 1997 equipment. Toyota's existing RV8A engine can only be fitted to a 1996-spec Reynard which Jones and teammate Juan Fangio II have used in every PPG Cup race run this season.

PJ logged 80 miles before rain stopped any further runs for the all-new combination. He came away pleased from the test and was encouraged by the new engine's driveability. They will not be on the track Thursday in order to prepare for the trip to Brazil.

If all goes right, the team may race the new package with both PJ and Juan Manuel Fangio II in the Hollywood Rio 400.
