CART president responds to rumors
In response to numerous erroneous reports emanating from Brazil with regard to a Championship Auto Racing Teams-sanctioned event being held in Argentina in 1998, CART President and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Craig today issued the following statement:
"Reports that CART is to race in Argentina in 1998 are entirely false. Argentina is a wonderful country, of course, but no discussions have taken place between CART and any organizing body in Argentina, and we have no plans to race there in the forseeable future."
Championship Auto Racing Teams makes its annual visit to South America for the upcoming Hollywood Rio 400, Sunday, May 11 on the Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway at Nelson Piquet International Raceway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
