Project Indy's Christian Danner to turn the wheel for Payton/Coyne

Payton Coyne Racing has announced that German driver Christian Danner has been named to drive the #34 Hype Lola Ford entry. Danner entered PPG CART competition in 1992, competing in eight races. His career best finish is seventh at Miami in 1995. He also started at the 1995 Detroit Grand Prix and finished 22nd. Danner did not compete in the 1996 PPG CART season. Danner currently is one of the three owners for Project Indy, who fields the #64 car, driven by rookie Arnd Meier.

No reason was given for this driver change. SpeedCenter will investigate the reasons this weekend.

In Friday morning warmup, Project Indy team co-owner Danner was 2.578 seconds faster than his own driver in the #64 car. An interesting scenario could emerge on Sunday when these two drivers are dicing for positions, or maybe even points...would Danner let his driver pass him?
