Lola problem identified?

Portland will be Hearn's 12th career CART start, and his first at PIR. In 1993,Hearn raced at there in both the Shelby Can-Am Pro Series and American CityRacing League Sports 2000, taking a second-place finish in the latterseries event.

"It'll be nice to go to a true road course again," Hearn said of the1.9-mile, nine-turn layout, CART's first visit to a permanent road coursesince last year's season-ending race at Laguna Seca. "We haven't testedthere, but it's not the most difficult track in the world, and a lot of thedata we aquired in our testing at Mid-Ohio will hopefully translate. It'sa beautiful setting, and I really like the Pacific Northwest, so I'mlooking forward to going there."

"We're really looking forward to Portland," Della Penna said, "because inthe last couple of days here we finally isolated something in the rear ofthe car that we believe is at the root of the handling deficiencies we'vebeen experiencing. The Lola people are going back to England to develop afix for the problem and it'll be available at Portland. Then, hopefullyafter a good result there, we'll be able to incorporate it into the carpermanently. It's a relief to finally have identified the problem."
