Inside CART Television Program Set for August 12 Debut

Detroit (August 10, 1997) - Television viewers around the country willhave the opportunity to delve into the diverse personalities in the PPGCART World Series with the August 12 debut of "Inside CART," a half-hourtelevision program that will air on Fox Sports Net.

"Inside CART" is made available through Fox Sports Net/Prime Network andwill be picked up by a number of regional sports networks throughout thecountry. Fox Sports Net reaches more than 50 million cable households.

The new 30-minute show will be hosted by veteran motorsports reporterRalph Shaheen, whose work has appeared on ESPN, TNN, and SpeedVision.Reporters for "Inside CART" are: Bill Adam, a former sports car racerwho also covers CART racing for The Sports Network in Canada;Detroit-based Fred McLeod, who has vast experience covering the NBA,Major League Baseball and motorsports; Shelley Unser, Jr.; Laura Bird, aSeattle based reporter who has covered a variety of motorsports; BobbyGerould, who has covered motorsports for TNN and SpeedVision; and LarryHenry, a veteran Detroit-based radio and television broadcaster who hasdone play-by-play for the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions, and theUniversity of Michigan, and is a pit reporter on the CART Radio Network.

The first edition of "Inside CART" features stories on CART drivers P.J.Jones and Mauricio Gugelmin as well a a piece on the CART Mobile MedicalFacility. Other segments include the CART Safety Tip; Driver Toys; andOne-on-One, which allows fans to ask questions of their favoritedrivers. Viewers should check their local listings for dates and timesfor "Inside CART."

The PPG CART World Series currently is at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Coursethis weekend for Round 13 of the 17-race series. Twenty-eight driversrepresenting 10 countries - including Michael Andretti, Bobby Rahal, AlUnser, Jr., and Christian Fittipaldi - race on an assortment of tracksin four countries in 850 horsepower, open-wheel cars capable of speedsof more than 240 miles per hour.
