Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing wins
PPG Best Use of Color and Design Award

Century City, Calif., (Oct. 25, 1997) — The PPG Best Use of Colorand Design Award was presented to Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing for theNo. 25 MCI Reynard Toyota driven by Max Papis. The $10,000 award waspresented to the team by Mike Sack, Director of Racing at PPGIndustries, Inc., at the PPG CART World Series awards banquet at theCentury City Plaza in Century City, Calif.

"I am very honored that PPG would recognize us with the Best Use ofColor and Design award," said team owner Cal Wells III. "Thepresentation of our sponsors, MCI and Toyota, is very important to usand PPG provides a tremendous amount of support in this area."

Chris Hukill and John Meehan, who work for the Arciero-Wells paintand graphics department, were also in attendance at the event toaccept the award. Hukill and Meehan created the design for the No.25 MCI Toyota.

This season, Italian Max Papis drove the MCI Racing entry with thesophomore Toyota powerplant to a 24th place finish in the PPG CARTWorld Series. He scored the best Toyota finish of the season byplacing eighth in the U.S. 500 in Michigan. Also, Papis was the mostconsistent Toyota qualifier, earning the top qualifying position forToyota in 10 of 17 events.

Arciero-Wells was formed in 1995 by the teaming of the Arciero familyand Cal Wells III. Based in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., theprogram rests on the laurels of long-time CART team owner FrankArciero Sr., who entered his first Indy car race in 1959, and CalWells III, who won 23 championship titles with Toyota in the off-roadracing arena. MCI Telecommunications joined the team in 1996,forming the partnership of Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing.
