CART cars featured in "The Pretender" on Jan. 31

NBC-TV has rescheduled its air date for "The Pretender" episode featuring the Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing Team. Originally slated for late February, the program will now air on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m ET, three days before Spring Training. The episode features the cars, transporters and crew members of Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing in footage shot during the 1997 season-ending Marlboro 500 Presented by Toyota at California Speedway, and during testing at the speedway last December.

"The Pretender" stars Michael T. Weiss as Jarod, a genius whose exceptional intelligence allows him to master virtually any profession. He uses his skills to become a one-man, nonviolent, vigilante force for justice - despite being stalked by agents of a clandestine research complex. In the Jan. 31 episode, Jarod assumes the role of a FedEx Championship Series driver to investigate an accident which occurred during a test run. The hour-long program will feature exciting racing action between the MCI and Panasonic-sponsored Reynard Toyotas as part of the story line, and will include cameo appearances by Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing driver Papis (MCI Reynard Toyota), Mario and Michael Andretti and NBC West Coast President Don Ohlmeyer.
