Tasman Motorsports Group and American Cancer Society announce Race4Life program

HOMESTEAD, Florida (February 3) — Tasman Motorsports Group team owner Steve Horne has announced a new program in the racing arena in conjunction with a three-year partnership alongside the American Cancer Society (ACS), the largest voluntary health organization in the world.

The program entitled "Race4Life" utilizes the marketing power of the FedEx Championship Series to develop income for the American Cancer Society, provide educational opportunities and promote healthy lifestyle products and services.Race4Life presents the American Cancer Society with a new messenger in its mission to educate, providing an opportunity to increase the awareness of millions of racing enthusiasts on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

"We are in a powerful environment," said Horne. "CART is a high profile tool that reaches a lot of people and can send a strong message. Race4Life is a way for us to send a powerful message about a positive lifestyle. We are proud to help the American Cancer Society with this project, and their ongoing fight against cancer."

Donations to ACS are raised by offering health-based product and service companies the opportunity to sign on as a Race4Life partner. As a partner, they receive the full benefits of a marketing platform with Tasman Motorsports and association with the American Cancer Society, and Tasman will donate half of all Race4Life partnership income to the Society.

Educational materials, health-related product samples and services as well as interactive learning opportunities will be presented at 14 of 19 events on the 1998 FedEx Championship Series schedule, providing access to more than 2,000,000 spectators.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem through research, education, advocacy and service.

"Our partnership with Tasman Motorsports presents us with a first-ever opportunity in the fight against cancer," said John R. Seffrin, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society. "Millions of race fans every year will now have ready access to life saving messages about cancer prevention, treatment and research in a setting which isfun and exciting.

"Two-thirds of all cancer is lifestyle-related. This program will help people adopt the behaviors that save lives."

The #21 LCI International Reynard-Honda piloted by 1997 PPG-Firestone Indy Lights Champion Tony Kanaan will carry the Race4Life logo.
