Roberto Moreno's first session as Penske test driver

Roberto MorenoFedEx Championship Series veteran Roberto Moreno completed his first test with Marlboro Team Penske last Tuesday at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, Calif. Moreno, signed by the team as a test driver at the end of May, ran 157 miles on the 2.238-mile road course as part of a Goodyear tire test. "The test was a good opportunity for me to get comfortable with the car since I have never driven a Penske chassis or the new Mercedes-Benz engine," Moreno said. "Although we didn't have a lot of track time, I did learn a little about the car. Overall, the car is very good. It has a great deal of potential and John Travis, our chief designer, is making good progress with the continuing development."

Chuck Sprague, Penske Racing general manager, said Moreno adapted quickly to the Penske team. "While he [Moreno] only had a limited run, we were very impressed with his testing ability and the feedback he has already been able to provide," Sprague said.

The previous weekend, Moreno visited the Penske race shop in Reading, Pa. and participated in ceremonies held in conjunction with the city's 250th anniversary celebration. "I was very impressed with the entire operation at Marlboro Team Penske," Moreno said. "Their professionalism is unparalleled, and everything they do - from testing to community relations - is first class."
