German sports marketing firm becomes minority partner

Midland, Texas - Davis Racing has announced a new partnership with J.A.G. Sports Management. LLC, the Hannover, Germany, based communications group, beginning on August 15.

Davis Racing will continue to be based in Midland, Texas, where the team has been located since Davis bought the assets of Hall Racing in 1996.

Second-year CART team owner Gerald Davis will be joined by J. Andreas Grajewski, originally from Lodz, Poland, as part owner of Davis Racing. Grajewski, owner of J.A.G., is internationally known in the sports business industry for his work in sports marketing and as owner of the Widzew Lodz professional soccer team, as well as the J.A.G. Speedway Team in Europe. Davis will retain majority ownership of the team. Sophomore German driver Arnd Meier is the pilot of the #77 Hasseroeder/TotalTel Lola-Ford/Cosworth.

"I'm happy to have J.A.G. as a marketing partner," said Davis. "Their experience in sportsmarketing will be very valuable for our team to progress to the next level."

Grajewski agreed.

"I am excited to be part of the Champ Car family," said Grajewski. "This is one of the best racing series in the world. This is a great opportunity."

J.A.G.'s role is to secure additional sponsorship and create the foundation for a successful racing program.

Davis has more than 30 years experience in racing, including drag racing, team management, and engine building. The 47-year-old Texan, who still holds three world records from the now defunct American Hot Rod Association (AHRA), began his career in CART racing in 1981, building Cosworth engines for Jim Hall's Chaparral team. The award-winning owner has helped produce two CART victories, both of them by driver Gil de Ferran.
