German driver shows promise with good finish in Wisconsin

Arnd Meier and the DavisRacing team come to Vancouver for the Molson Indy Vancouveron September 6 after a season-best performance at Elkhart Lake.

Meier, 25, drove a near flawless race and the Davis racing pitcrew led by chief mechanic Barry Brooke, helped Meier gainseveral positions with two near-perfect pit stops. All told, thecomplete team effort allowed the second-year German driver ofthe Hasseroder/TotalTel Lola-Ford/Cosworth, get 10th place.

"It's great to come to Vancouver with some momentum. I reallythink this new (track) layout will be good for the drivers and fans,"says Meier. "I didn't race here last year, but I saw what the coursewas all about. There should be better places for the drivers topass and race on."

It was a career best finish for Meier, topping his 12th place setearlier this season at Portland. It also topped a successfulweekend for owner Gerald Davis, who before the race announcedthat European businessman J. Andreas Grajewski and hiscompany Team J.A.G. bough part ownership of the Davis team.

Meier is the only German driver in the FedEx Championship andhe has four points in the PPG Cup standings, which is a careerbest. The Molson Indy race will be Meiers' 25th start in CART, the14th on a road course and the 32nd career start for Davis Racingin the FedEx Championship Series.
