©1998 SpeedCenter Internet Publishing, Inc. Sanata Ana, Calif. — Dan Gurney has re-signed 1998 Rookie Alex Barron, 29, to drive All American Racers No. 36 Champ Car next year. "Alex has justified the trust we placed in him when we signed him up last year," stated team Owner Dan Gurney. "Coming straight out of one year in the Toyota Atlantic Series, even as Champion, he had a steep learning curve ahead of him in the ultra competitive CART series, but he has risen to the challenge by getting better from race to race. He is fast, he is dedicated and he has coped well in difficult circumstances. The experience he has gained this year by getting to know the tracks and getting familiar with our team will be a great asset going into next season.
