©1999 SpeedCenter Publishing Mauricio Gugelmin completed 268 miles of trouble-free testing today at Homestead Speedway. The test marked Gugelmin's first run of the year on the 1.5-mile Homestead oval in preparation for CART Spring Training (Feb 3-4) and the Miami Grand Prix (March 21). "It was a very good day," said Gugelmin. "We continue to run strong and get a lot accomplished. Today we worked on improving the balance of the car and finding more mechanical grip. Every time we test we make steady progress throughout the day. The team is doing a really great job. The tires we tested today are not the same tires we plan to run here, so I think we will find more speed at Spring Training. I'm confident we will run strong at Spring Training. It will be good to have this test and Spring Training to learn from before we race here in March." The test was intended for two days, but day two was rained out. Source: PacWest Racing Group |
