Target/Chip Ganassi Racing Promotes Hill and Hodgson

In an effort to strengthen communication among the two-car Target/Chip Ganassi Racing team, the team has appointed Rob Hill to the new position of crew chief. Simon Hodgson will take over Hill's position as chief mechanic for Juan Montoya's No. 4 car.

As crew chief, Hill will oversee the chief mechanics for both Montoya's car and Jimmy Vasser's No. 12 car. Hill has served as chief mechanic for Target/Chip Ganassi Racing since 1996, guiding former driver Alex Zanardi to the 1997 and 1998 CART championship&

"Although we've been successful with a two-car team, there are challenges," said Tom Anderson, Target/Chip Ganassi's managing director. "With Rob's people skills and racing knowledge our team's overall communication will be improved with him serving as crew chief."

Hodgson, who most recently served as lead mechanic for Zanardi's car, joined Target/Chip Ganassi Racing in 1996. His racing experience began with Formula One's Team Lotus Limited in 1989.

Grant Weaver remains as the chief mechanic for Vasser's No. 12 car.
