Televised karting event to attract pros and amateurs alike

It was officially announced today by Thrill Promotions, L.L.C., that the highly anticipated Irvine Grand Prix will be scheduled for August 27-29, 1999 at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, California.

The Grand Prix is being billed as the largest and most publicized karting event in recent history and is expected to draw some 10,000 plus spectators, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. According to Mr. Morris, President of Thrill Promotions, The Irvine Grand Prix will have some of the best professional and amateur kart racers from around the country, competing for over $12,000 in prize money and trophies.

The weekend schedule will include several classes of high speed, high performance Italian and American made racing karts. These karts are capable of speeds in excess of 115 mph while riding less than 1" off the ground. Other scheduled attractions include, celebrity races, autograph sessions, vintage and modern racing car displays, vendor booths, automobile auctions and much more.

The race will be held at the massive Irvine Spectrum Center, located at the intersection of the I-5 and I-405 freeways in the heart of Orange County, California. Known as a first class entertainment complex, the Irvine Spectrum Center is well positioned to host an event of this magnitude.

Along with the anticipated spectators, it has been announced that ESPN and ESPN2 will be airing The Irvine Grand Prix three times in 1999 to over 63 million homes worldwide.
