CART drivers will compete in Celebrity karting event

It was announced today, that Robby Gordon and Alex Barron will compete in the celebrity race at the 1999 Grand Prix, which is being presented by, Good Neighbor Pharmacy. The Grand Prix, is scheduled for August 27-29, 1999 at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine California, and is centered around a 3-day kart race, with more than 100 of the best kart racers from around the country.

In addition, Steve Millen, former winner of the 24 Hours of LeMans, 24 Hours of Daytona and the winningest driver in IMSA GT history will also compete in the celebrity race along with Tommy Kendall, former IMSA driver and host of CART races for ESPN. "These guys will bring a whole new meaning to the word performance racing kart" states Ted Morris, Manager of Thrill Promotions LLC, the Event Director and Promoter of the Grand Prix.

The Bondurant SuperKart School will provide the karts for the celebrity race. Bob Bondurant is the owner of the world renown, Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix, AZ.

The Grand Prix, which is being billed, as the most talked about karting event in recent history is becoming a huge event. Other activities include; Exhibitor areas and static car displays.
