Della Penna Motorsports in conjunction with Budweiser and Toyota Motorsports will contribute $6828 through its 1999 charity effort to social service agencies Pleasant Run and Judson Center. At the beginning of the season, the team announced it would donate one dollar for each race lap that driver Richie Hearn completed in his #10 Budweiser Toyota-powered Champ car throughout the 1999 FedEx Championship Series, with team supporters Budweiser and Toyota matching the funds. Hearn completed 2276 laps this year out of a possible 2769 laps, ranking him seventh overall on CARTs laps completed report.

"This (charity effort) has been a personal undertaking for me," Della Penna said. "Like all CART teams, we receive numerous requests for charitable donations throughout the season, and while we still contribute to those efforts, I wanted to focus our efforts more.

"The services that Pleasant Run and Judson Center provide to children and their families touched my heart. While we have helped raise funds for these agencies through the laps completed program and by donating auction items to their various fundraising efforts, I hope we have also helped to raise the public's awareness of these programs and touch the children they benefit."

Pleasant Run, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, provides services to at-risk children and their families through therapeutic programs such as an Intensive Treatment Center, Group Homes, Foster Care and community based services. The objective is to help these children become healthy and happy contributing members of their communities.

"Della Penna Motorsports' generous support will go to enhance programs for the 1600 children and families of Indiana served by Pleasant Run," said Carson Soule, Director of Resource Development. "We would like to thank the Della Penna Motorsports team and congratulate driver Richie Hearn on a great racing season."

Likewise, Judson Center in Royal Oak, Michigan is a human service agency that cares for over a thousand individuals daily- Judson Center's mission is to help children, adults and families reach their fullest potential. The agency's programs include: Living in Family Environment (L.I.F.E.), Foster Care and Adoption, Family Preservation, Residential Care for Emotionally and Developmentally Impaired Adolescents and Adults, Youth in Transition, Transitions Residential and Supported Employment.

"This has been an exciting year for our children at Judson Center!" said Joseph E. Barger, Jr., Development Director- "Della Penna Motorsports has truly enriched their lives by making it possible for them to attend two premier events in the Detroit area. Our children come from homes where they have been abused and neglected and it is wonderful when community leaders like Della Penna Motorsports reach out to let them know that they are valued.

"The donation will help to fund the many needs of our tutoring program and will provide hours of counseling for the children in Judson Center's care. Thanks to Delia Penna Motorsports, John Della Penna, Toyota and Budweiser's generosity, Judson Center's children will have a chance to reach for the 'Winner's Circle'."
