Winning engineer continues to work with Reynard cars

Indianapolis, Ind. (December 8, 1999) - Team owner John Della Penna announced today that Diane Holl has joined his team to engineer Richie Hearn's Toyota/Reynard Champ Car for the 2000 FedEx Championship Series. Holl has established herself among the ranks of CART's most recognizable engineers over the last five years working for Forsythe Championship Racing, Tasman Motorsports and Reynard Racing Cars.

"I've been watching Diane's career for awhile now," said team owner John Della Penna "and have continually been impressed with her work. She's worked with Reynard extensively on aerodynamic testing since the company entered Champ Car racing. I had a chance to collaborate with her briefly when we both worked with the Lola chassis in 1997. She has been an integral part of Tony Kanaan's Champ Car success as well. The opportunity to work with such an experienced and talented engineer was too good to pass up."

The Briton most recently worked for the Ohio-based Forsythe Championship Racing Team (formerly Tasman Motorsports, 1996 - 1999) where she campaigned drivers Adrian Fernandez and Tony Kanaan to their first Champ Car victories (1996 and 1998, respectively). Prior to that, Holl served as lead research and development engineer for Reynard Racing Cars in 1994 and 1995.

"I am extremely excited about the prospects for the year 2000 as I join Della Penna Motorsports," Holl said. "I look forward to working with John (Della Penna), Richie (Hearn), (Team Manger) Phil (Howard) and the entire team.

"Della Penna Motorsports has shown a great deal of potential over the last few years and I welcome the opportunity to be a part of their bid for Winner's Circle."

Holl graduated from the University of South West in Plymouth, Devonshire, England with an honors degree in mechanical engineering. She earned the Institute of Mechanical Engineering Prize as the valedictorian of her graduating class. Holl held design engineering and development position with the Ferrari and Benetton Formula One teams prior to her move to CART.

Holl begins her stint with Della Penna Motorsports later this week as Richie Hearn shakes down his 2000 Reynard/Toyota Champ Car at Sebring International Raceway.
