It was everythingbut exciting for me. I was not looking for any excitement today.I think that today I had the best car, and that the Target/ChipGanassi team gave me a great car the whole weekend. It isvery disappointing to me that we lost this race. At the veryend, I was conserving fuel, and I don't think Greg could havecaught me. I felt that it was better to have one gallon too muchthan to have to cut it so close. But I came up behind the samebackmarker that made me lose second place in Miami andfor some reason he decided to slow down in the middle of thestraightaway. I don't understand how things like that happenwhen you're competing at this level. It's very disappointing thatwe lost this race.

After starting on the last row, the Marlboro car ran really well today. We were moving through the field, and the guys did a great job with the pit stops. It felt great to be in second place by lap 90. All of a sudden, we developed a problem with the engine, which ended our day early. We know this car has a lot of potential, and we are continuing to develop it. We're looking forward to the race in St. Louis.

On the first pit stop, I couldn't engage first gear, which concerned me. It happened again on the second stop, and then I also lost fourth gear, so I couldn't downshift properly in turn three. By lap 76, we finally lost all the gears due to a mechanical failure in the gearbox. This is a big disappointment after everyone worked so hard all weekend. But you must take these situations and learn from them.

The car was real good the first half of the race. When I was running by myself I could turn fast, consistent laps. Near the end of the race, Richie [Hearn] and I were having a pretty good fight, but I never could get a real good run at him. Finally, Michael [Andretti] got by me in traffic, then on the last lap Richie got held up by a slower car and I got around him.

The problem was the throttle wasn't giving me full throttle, and that also caused a problem with shifting. The throttle didn't stick, it would've been even worse if it stuck; that can be dangerous on a track likethis. The car was excellent before that. It was much better on old tires. I could have moved up as the day went on, but we'll just go to the next one.

That's a pretty good result after a tough day, but it should have been better. Papis missed a gear coming to the start - all they had to do was look at the replay to see that. What was I supposed to do, hit the brakes and start a chain reaction accident? That put us a lap behind, but my crew did a great job and put us back with the leaders. The balance of the car was pretty decent all day. The key was the strategy the engineers came up with and good pit stops by the guys. I really think we had the car for a top-5 finish, but the officials hurt us today.

It was a bit of a frustrating race for us. The balance of the car was real good and so were the tires. Near the end, we ran conservative on the fuel to the point where we ran out on the backstretch. We're testing in Milwaukee for a couple of days next week and we're going to apply some strategies we've learned here and I'm confident we'll have a good race is St. Louis.

The Visteon/Patrick Racing Team was running a strong race. We had the black flag earlyand that set us back some but, we had worked our way into the top ten. We were on thelead lap and we were able to keep up with the leaders. The guys did a great job on the pitstops and I was feeling good about the race. Then I started having trouble with the shifter. That went on for awhile and then the cable broke putting an end to our day.

It's been tough for the team with this incredible run of bad luck. The Visteon crew hasdone a good job of preparing the cars. We just have to keep our heads up until we can getthis turned around. Fortunately there is still a lot of racing left in the season so we havetime to get back in the championship race.

It was a good start. I planned to make a move and it worked, but Alex (Zanardi)got me at the outside of Turn One. I was very happy to pass everyone and lead thefirst corner at least. It is a shame. We had a pretty good car. I had a littlebit of loose but sometimes in the race, with the first set of tires, you need touse them to learn and we started getting better every time. We were going tochange the tire pressure on the first pit stop but we didn't have a chance todo that. Unfortunately we had an engine problem. I don't know what happened. It just blew. It's a shame because I really wanted to do good here in Brazil.

What can I say? We used a different fuel strategy that would have worked, but we had to comein a few laps early because we had problems with the car. We could have stayed out at leastthree or four more laps which would have played right into our hands.

The car was good. I was just waiting for the pit stops. It's tough to get by Michael(Andretti) and Greg (Moore), but I knew my guys would do a good job. We left in fourth andmoved up to second. It was a bad move by Gil (de Ferran). It was too early in the race topull off a pass like that. I was in front of him and he tried to make a dive down the inside. There was no way. I think he just locked up and drove his car into the side of me.

We're not sure what happened. The wing caught the asphalt and broke as it wentover some bumps, and then the right-front tire started rubbing on the wing.We changed the nose [front wing] and tire, but it still waspushing hard. It's disappointing because everything was going so great today.

I'm very happy that we were able to finish in the points today. We had a rough weekend and today's finish helped make up for it. My crew did a great job putting the car back together after my qualifying accident. I just want to thank my guys for all their hard work this weekend and hopefully today's finish is a sign of good things to come.

For the Tecate/Quaker State Team this was a great race. Third is a great result for usafter what happened in Nazareth. [Fernandez spun on the first lap in Nazareth]

The day was a bit of a mystery for us. Before the morning warm-up we changed ourstrategy completely. We learned a lot in Nazareth and I am just very happy with the resulttoday.

In the race I had a good start. The pace was good and I managed to move up a fewposition by passing some guys on the track. Then I had a problem when the brakes startedto fail. It was just like in Japan. They were overheating. I had to pump the brakes 200-300yards before the corner for almost all the race. I maintained position for most of the racethen at the end we were really tight on fuel. When I got to the pits after the race I was outof fuel. The Tecate/Quaker State guys did a good job on the pit stops. I only lost oneposition all day in the pits and that was on the last one, a splash and go. The only reasonwe lost a position then was because Greg Moore had a better pit position.

The car was pretty decent today. We just did the best we could with what we had to work with. We had a little problem in the pits, getting short filled. That cost us a lap but everything else went fine.

I'mobviously very pleased with today. I would have liked to haveled every lap like Alex did. When he got the point for mostlaps led midway through the race, we were tied in thechampionship. It's nice to leave Rio with the championshiplead. I don't know why, but when we get outside NorthAmerica we tend to do very, very well. I was second here andsecond in Australia last year and third in Australia the yearbefore that. Alex [Zanardi] is one of the best [drivers] outthere, and to be able to race with him and pass him like I did, with three or four laps to go, is very, very gratifying. I can'tleave Brazil any happier, that's for sure.
