  stealing the show

Andretti at his best - looking spectacular. Lap one of the race, he already determines the best action photo of the event. Who was it that won this race? Some red car that didn't spin...

I was lucky! Right after the grid, I decided to run to the outside of turn 4 where I had seen some photographers the day before. Knowing I had some other photographers cover the standard views for me I wanted to try something new. When i got outside the track, I got on a trail that led me into the woods, away from the track into a deep ravine. I heard the warmup laps click by above me, as I jogged to the other end of this ravine to find a way back up. With engines already screaming in the distance for the start, when I saw a small parking lot, no clue where i was - I just ran to where the people where. I got to the fence, cars came flying by, I aimed my zoom lens just in case, shutter speed still set for grid fill flash - and Andretti comes sliding backwards into my frame... This was outside turn 7 - no other photographer had got lost there with me... Gotta love the smoke peeling off that left rear tire
