blind spot

Seems like the Penske cars have a huge blind spot in front when entering tight turns. Obviously, Al is not looking that way, but in traffic?

Another cropped image - but only slightly (30% enlarged) - to highlight the interesting part: the low seating position in the Penske cars. Their steering wheels are flat on top to provide vision in all driving conditions other than tight cornering. When the driver comes near the steering lock, his hands are all the way on top of the wheel, and at that point as high as the line of sight. Are F1 cars that low? I have never seen a shot like that of a Formula 1 car.
