I met one of Jeff Krosnoff's mechanics at the US 500, his name was Michael West. I met him in the
restaurant of the hotel we were staying at and began to talk to him over dinner. Michael and his wife
are great people and patiently answered my many questions about the ins and out of Indycar Racing and
Jeff. Michael gave me a pit pass from the first US 500 as a souvenir.

I had a pit pass for Milwaukee the next weekend and everytime I passed Jeff's work area I would say hello
to Michael. Finally on race day I got to meet Jeff Krosnoff for the first and only time. He had a
smile, a handshake and was very kind. He signed the pit pass that Michael had given me the week before
and allowed me to take a picture. Michael had told me what a great guy Jeff was the week I was in
Michigan and in Milwaukee I learned why people thought so highly of Jeff. As he was signing my pit pass
I told Jeff what a good guy Michael was and Jeff jokingly said, 'You must not know him very well,' then
he laughed.

Indycar is special. People who have never been to an Indycar event ask me what the attraction is to
watching cars going around a track. I tell them that its a sport you don't understand but I tell them
that in no other sport do you have the chance to become part of a family. I was stunned and shaken as I
watched and learned of Jeff's death and my prayers are with Jeff, his family and his crew who thought so
much of him
