The car was really right from the get-go and it got better after we made some changes. I knew the car was capable of going quickly, and I feel like it’s capable of even more. We need to make it even better yet. We’re not there yet by any means. We’ve got some work to do to make sure we don’t fall asleep tomorrow. Historically, [pole-winning] times are set on the first day here, and with the weather forecast being what it is, there’s an urgency in that respect. At some circuits, you can say ‘Oh, it’s gonna get better tomorrow. We’re going to go faster.’ But historically, this is a track where that is not the case. |

I was real happy with my time and I was hoping Bob [Rahal] would have a shot to get into the fast group for tomorrow. It’s good for us now to get some momentum; it helps validate the changes we made in the program over the winter. I think that setup-wise, we can definitely help the car to be faster still. I’ve had more provisional poles than I’ve had poles, so I know what this feels like and I know what I need to do tomorrow. |

We kept improving the car all the time and it felt very good at the end. I thought we’d have a shot at Bryan, but he did a very good job and he’s very deserving [of the provisional pole]. If it rains tomorrow, I feel like we have a good starting position, but I’ve never had a pole, so I’d like to steal it from Bryan. But I feel like we have a good car for the race, and that’s the most important thing. |

We had a sticky throttle and it slowed us down with our second set of tires. I hope the weather holds up for our second session tomorrow. |
