At Detroit this year, I was (suprise
suprise) one of the only people who knew who Jeff Krosnoff was. He was
on his scooter surrounded by people wanting autographs (the 'if he's in a
firesuit, get an autograph' people) I got his autograph, and asked him a
question or two about the Toyota Engines, nothing special. I kneeled
down to get a good shot of him (without all the fans). As he was about
to go off to practice or qualifying (I dont remember which) he spotted me
lining up the shot, stopped, turned DIRECTLY at my camera and gave me a
great smile so I could snap the picture. The picture came out great...
my favorite of the weekend. When I went to Toronto, I took my Detroit
pictures with me. Friday, I forgot them at the hotel, but when I saw
Jeff, I told him I had gotten a great picture of him at Detroit, but I'd
left it at my hotel. He said, 'Don't worry about it, bring it tommorrow,
and I'll make sure I sign it for you.' Saturday I remembered it, and he
signed it (and nicely, a lot of drivers just scribble stuff, he saw
really took his time to make sure it looked right). We all know what
happened on Sunday.
