Coverage will also include a half-hour "CART Friday Night" program

MONTEREY, Calif. (February 8, 2002) - For the first time in the 23-year history of Championship Auto Racing Teams, the sanctioning body announced today that every event on its 2002 CART FedEx Championship Series schedule will be aired on live television in the United States.

The all-live package is anchored by 12 races on SPEED Channel, with six events currently scheduled to air on the CBS Television Network. Negotiations on television coverage of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach are in their final stages, with an announcement expected shortly.

"Everyone in the CART community waits with great anticipation to begin working with our new television partners within the FOX and CBS family of networks, which includes the growing SPEED Channel network," said CART President and CEO Christopher R. Pook. "All of the networks we will be working with this season have a great deal of experience in televising motorsports, and all of them have shown a real aptitude for giving the viewers a look inside the world of auto racing. We believe that fans of the CART FedEx Championship Series will be delighted with our television product in 2002 and beyond."

SPEED Channel announced recently that veteran play-by-play announcer Bob Varsha and former IMSA and Trans-Am champion Tommy Kendall will anchor race coverage from the broadcast booth, with Calvin Fish and former Champ Car driver Scott Pruett working pit lane.

SPEED Channel's coverage will also include a half-hour "CART Friday Night" program on race weekends, which will be hosted by Derek Daly, a former Champ Car and Formula One pilot. Daly will also host SPEED Channel's pre-race coverage, as well as providing commentary during practice, qualifying and race broadcasts. In total, television coverage of the CART FedEx Championship Series will be increased by 61 percent this season.

An announcement regarding 2002 CART FedEx Championship Series international television networks is expected shortly.
