At Road America and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

INDIANAPOLIS (November 11, 2002) - In a move designed to aid promotion and increase national television exposure for a pair of 2003 Championship Auto Racing Teams events, CART today announced that it was changing the dates of next season's races at Road America and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The date of the event at Elkhart Lake, which is contested on the 4.048-mile Road America layout, will be changed from August 17 to August 3 in order to take advantage of better promotional opportunities in the local market and also to capitalize on the chance to have the race broadcast on CBS Sports.

"We're glad to have CART at Road America on the earlier date," said George Bruggenthies, Road America's President and General Manager. "The network TV time is good for race fans throughout the U.S. who can't be here, good for the teams and good for our sponsors. It's a win-win schedule change."

The event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, which takes place on the picturesque 2.258-mile circuit in Lexington, Ohio, will be moved back a week from its previous spot on the 2003 schedule and will be run on August 17.

"With the move of the Road America event to the week after Vancouver (July 27), we felt we needed to move Mid-Ohio back a week in order to keep our teams from having to run three consecutive weeks," said Tim Mayer, CART Vice-President of Promoter Operations. "We have to thank our valued promoters in both markets for allowing us to makes these moves and avoid the cost of having our teams run on three consecutive weekends."
